Resolved Question:

How do you replace the light on the automatic gear shift of a 2006 corolla. It is not the same as earlier models that I have seen how to change.

FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (A245E)




COMPONENTS

OVERHAUL

  1. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER
  2. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
  3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
  4. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY REAR

  1. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
    1. Remove the cable end from the rod of the floor shift assembly.

    1. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the control cable from the shift lever plate. HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT PARKING LOCK CABLE ASSEMBLY
    1. Remove the cable end from the lever pin of the floor shift assembly.

    1. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the parking lock cable from the floor shift assembly. HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
  1. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    1. Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps from the shift lever assembly.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and floor shift assembly.

  1. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
    1. Releasing the lock by pressing the slick, disconnect the indicator lamp wire connector from the shift lever plate.

    1. Disengage the secondary locking device.
    2. Using a small screwdriver, disengage the locking lug of the terminals 2 and 4, and pull the terminals out from the rear.
    3. Disconnect the wire harness from the clamps.

    1. Remove the 2 screws and shift lever knob sub-assembly. NOTICE: Pay attention not to apply unnatural load to transmission control switch wire harness.

  1. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER KNOB COVER
    1. Remove the shift lever knob cover.

  1. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
    1. Using a small screwdriver, remove the transmission control switch. HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB BUTTON
    1. Remove the shift lever knob button and spring.

  1. REMOVE INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
    1. Remove the indicator lamp wire sub-assembly.
    2. Remove the cap and bulb from the indicator lamp wire sub-assembly.
