We recently bought a 1997 Toyota Camry...150,000 miles..in good shape and runs good...but there's a noise in the rear end..like the tail pipe is hitting or ?? when I drive in town..not an issue on smooth highway. I have heard others have had this issue. Any history? Ideas?
Year: 1997Make: ToyotaMake (other): camryModel: leEngine: 4 cyl
There are no recalls or service bullitens on this issue but we have come across a few making this noise and it's usually either the rear strut mount cushion or the exaust pipe like you mentioned. I would advise having an exaust shop, like Midas, take a look at it for you. Most dont charge just for an inspection. If you can try to get a couple of different estimates just to be on the safe side.
Best of luck my friend, Happy Hollidays and thanks for asking!
