My obd2 reader shows 420 and 430 codes..EVAP..Check fuel..fuel cap

Resolved Question:

My obd2 reader shows 420 and 430 codes. all monitors are ok exept for EVAP that shows NO. Check fuel cap and could hear air going in when opened that means the cap is ok. How can you check the rest? please help.

Codes P420,P430 are related to your catalyst (converter) in the exhaust system.They set code when they are performing below threshold.

then why obd2 shows cathalyst - OK and EVAP - NO, what's going on?

Based on the codes you typed in that is what they refer to P420 is for bank one P430 bank two.Did you have any major work performed recently or maybe wrong fuel in the vehicle .

As outlined in the link above there were 2 service bulletins that resulted in a recall on this issue. THis is most likely a free repair at your dealer. THese 2 codes are related directly to this "known" issue. The monitors that you describe are just that, monitors. The EVAP system needs to recognize a specific drive pattern before it will run the monitor and complete/ok the system.

it apears that that software upgrade for that recal was done to my car in 2007.

If the calbration was already done. We will need a scanner to observe the monitors to determine what is going on.
