my battery is dead. how do i put my corolla into neutral to move it so I can jump it

Already Tried:
my battery is dead. i need to move my car so i can jump it but the gear won't get out of park, even when i put the key in...how do i get the car into neutral to push it?

Hello,

Thanks for using Just Answer.

To release the shifter you will need to remove the cover for the shift lock release button.

Using a small flat blade screw driver pry up on the cover, it is a small square cover located at the front left corner of the shifter area just above the shift position indicator. Once that is removed, apply the brakes and use your finger to push down the release. While holding the release down, shift the transmission into neutral.
