FYI: You *might* be able to do the connecting rods without pulling the engine but as youve found (I was wondering why you couldnt make them come out) the mains probably will not fit...

The manual has you do ALL of that in an engine stand. = engine removal.

If I HAD to do it without pulling the engine I'd unbolt the motor mounts while the engine was supported by an engine hoist... draw the engine upwards with trans (loosen but dont remove the trans mount) attached to it until it was high enough to clear the bolts removal

1. do 1 cap at a time.... (you dont want the crank falling on you)

2. make sure you use the proper tightening sequence during reintall

If you still dont have enough room.... drop the driveshaft and the trans mount... that should give you several more inches to work with (the trans will drop downwards....) be carful to watch things like over strecthing you a/c and p/s lines lifting it that high...

This really isnt going to be real easy with it in the car... your a brave soul!

Good luck, let me know if you need anything else
