Impala: tested..I replaced egr valve and car..catalytic converter

02 impala tested po404. I replaced egr valve and car is still acting up during acceloration. Is this because my catalytic converter needs to be replaced

when you replaced the egr valve did you inspect the ports on your throttle body for carbon build up? Also the tube for clogging?

Yes the general "fix" for you code is the expensive convertors... if not clogged ports on the throttle or the egr tube itself.
