I need help to even find the right way to defend myself.

Hi, good evening,I need help to even find the right way to defend myself.Over a year ago a rear ended a car with about 5-8 miles/hr speed. The ambulance was on scene to my 7 yrs old son, only he got injured (bruises on his neck from the seat belt, the police decided to call them, no treatment was necessary at all, so he did not get any). The ambulance personnel walked around, talked to every participant, no one was injured. I personally talked to everybody (the other driver and his passenger, hand shaking, etc for like an hr).I did not even get ticket, or any written warning. Now 14 months later the other car's passenger's lawyer says we can settle at $25,000, because this passenger went to chiropractor several times, went to physical therapy series, bought a brand new mattress, etc. Please help me, what can I do.

next door neighbor installed Attic Ventilation Fan. It points directly at the side of my house where my bedrooms and bathrooms are. We are 50 years living in this house & they are new neighbors. It is noisy and I have to keep windows closed at all times when it is running. It works off a thermostat, and runs nonstop and for many hours at a time day and night. City bldg. inspector says it is not above 65 deciples, therefore, not breaking bldg. code. But I read somewhere there is such a thing as ambient noise, and it cannot exceed '5' onto your neighbors property, and that the proximity of the fan in relation to my house should be taken into consideration (such as facing our bedrooms). The fan is approx. 7 or 8 feet from their attic to property line. Is this true about ambient noise??Also, can neighbor 'exhaust' their hot air at my house???? Why can they point their fan to blow all their hot air & attic dust at me & onto my home??? Please help! Rancho Palos Verdes, CA in the County of Los angeles.

We just purchased a home in Colorado. On Friday June 10, we were notified by Allstate that they would not provide us with home insurance past 60 days after closing because the house needed a new roof on the east side, the west side had been previously been replaced. The sellers signed an addendum saying they would pay for repairs to the roof. There inspector (state Farm) said they would do a patch job on the roof for $150.00. I refused them and told them to leave. Allstate said they would not accept a patch job and have since said they would canx our insurance effective on Aug12, unless the roof was replaced. State farm (their insurance co) has refused to talked me saying it was between me and the seller. The seller has a $3500 deductible, I asked her to send a check for that amount which she did. She canx that check and subsequently sent me a check for $150.00. The estimate for that side of the roof is over $3000.00 Do I have a legal recourse, or do I just have to suck it up?
