We are having a new furnace and humidifier installed in our offices. The HVAC company hooked the water line for the humidifier into the hot water line. I assumed it was supposed to go to the cold side. I contacted JA and Rick confirmed what I thought. My brother thought it would be a good idea if I found out why before I addressed this with my HVAC contractor. So, why is it supposed to be tapped into the cold water side?

I have an International Comfort Products N9MSE (A Series)

I have an International Comfort Products N9MSE (A Series) Furnace. I also have central air. I have connected an Ecobee3 thermostat. This setup works fine. (Ecobee3 -> Furnace, Rc -> R, G -> G, Y1 -> Y, W1 -> W, C -> C). During heating season, the furnace has a limit circuit fault several times a day. (Error code 4 in the N9MSE manual.) I have had the installer (plumber primarily) and an HVAC person out to correct this but they have not been able to. The annoyance with the limit circuit fault is that it shuts down the 24V being sent to the thermostat and so the thermostat turns off. To remedy this, I bought an external 24V transformer to power the Ecobee3. When I connect the AC terminals of the transformer to the C and Rc terminals of the Ecobee3 then the thermostat powers on. When I then connect the Ecobee3 to the furnace control board (Ecobee3 -> Furnace, Rc -> R, G -> G, Y1 -> Y, W1 -> W) and power on the furnace, the Ecobee3 stays on but shows a generic "installation error" message. Note that in this setup, I do not have the furnace C terminal connected to anything. Should it be connected to the ground terminal of the external transformer? Or should it be connected to the AC terminal of the external transformer that is also connected to the C terminal of the Ecobee3? Or is there some other way I can set things up to keep the Ecobee3 powered? Or am I out of luck?

Just put a new solenoid valve in my Aprilair 700 humidifier. The unit seems to be working fine but the flow of water coming out at the bottom looks excessive to me. Is it normal to have this much?
