I have a GeneralAire Dehumidifier in my crawlspace and the

I have a GeneralAire Dehumidifier in my crawlspace and the compressor is running when it shouldn't be. When I bought the unit the fan and compressor turned on/off at the same time unless it was in defrost mode. Now, when the fan shuts off after the set humidity level is reached the compressor continues to run. Besides the compressor issue, the unit is functioning properly and dehumidifying the air like it did when it was first installed. I'm looking for some input on what the problem may be. Here is a link to the product page with some reference info as well. http://www.generalfilters.com/products/de-humidifiers/de-humidifier-1300/DH70-Dehumidifier_PT916.html

We have carrier heating and cooling units with built in

We have carrier heating and cooling units with built in humidistat. My sister keeps turning the humidistat controller all the way to the -20 deg F. Setting/0 % humidity. The controller and manual state you should set the controller to the outdoor temperature and adjust up or down from there. It is summer here. Temps from 70-90 deg. I understand that it is personal preference and condensation on windows, etc...It seems like the "temperature guide" is there for a reason and should be used as the starting point. Am I correct?

Looking troubleshooting an A/C issue. Two days ago

Looking for help troubleshooting an A/C issue. Two days ago the A/C would not come on and I pinpointed it to the outdoor unit. The blower in the central unit kicks on, but nothing happens outside - no fan and no sounds coming from the compressor.Central unit is an Amana 80 SSE. Control board is a White-Rodgers model 50A50-298. Outdoor unit is an Amana model RCB30A2C.Yesterday I tear into the outside unit. First I removed and checked the capacitor. Checked resistance on both sides, seemed ok. Using a 9V battery, I tested that both sides would accept and discharge and both did.Next I moved on to the contactor. 240VAC coming in. 0.412VAC across the coil with the thermostat set to cool. If I manually push the contactor in, the unit turns on without delay and quickly starts to blow cold air inside.I completely disconnected the contactor. Checked continuity across the coil. I get a reading of 9 ohms.No I go back and check the control line voltage with the contactor still disconnected. Reading 26.4VAC.Now, at the central unit inside at the control board. Transformer output measures 26.6VAC. R to Y measures 26.6VAC.Can't find a fuse or trip switch anywhere in the system. The control board has an indicator light that is off, which indicates all is normal.Where do I look next?
