HDMI Problems

HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface is a compact audio or video interface. It transmits digital audio and video data from a device compliant with HDMI to a compatible digital device such as video projectors, computer monitors, digital televisions and many others. HDMI cables can transfer the data using one cable without converting to analog. Below are frequently asked questions on issues relating to HDMI problems that have been answered by the Experts.

What can be done if the HDMI cables do not work after connecting them to a Panasonic TV (Model # Th37PX70BA) ?

In a case like this, one could try to reset the HDMI inputs on the TV to see if that helps make the connections work. To do this, the devices would need to be disconnected that are plugged in with HDMI and the power plugs from the TV set, and then disconnect the HDMI cables and wait for 15 minutes before plugging in the power cord. After this, turn on the TV as well as the devices and again wait for one minute. After this the HDMI cables can be plugged back in. This should reset the HDMI connection. In case this does not fix the HDMI issue, one may have to find a spare main board and get it installed on the TV.

What could be the problem if a Samsung Plasma TV loses sound while being hooked up with HDMI cables?

When you use a HDMI connection on your TV, many times you may face an audio drop out problem. In order to correct the issue regarding audio drop outs, Samsung has released a firmware upgrade. Therefore, you may want to visit http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/HP-T5064 to get the update on firmware. To get this update, you would first need to click on the ‘Manuals and the Downloads’ tab of the website and then go to the Firmware option. In the Firmware option, you would need to select the firmware file that would be in PDF format. You would then have to download the PDF instructions from the file. Many times it is easier to use a USB thumb drive to transfer the PDF file onto.. To update the firmware properly, you should follow the instructions carefully. However, you must note that usually a firmware update would erase the stored settings that you have performed on your TV. Therefore, you would have to reset them for your preferences after the update is done.

If the HDMI ports on a LG HDTV are not working, the TV sends a message searching for signal; is there a way to fix this?,

In a situation like this, it could be the TV has a faulty main board. Therefore, if this is the case, a repair or replacement would normally be needed and could be quite costly. However, one would have an option of using the component inputs rather than using the HDMI input to avoid the problem or to see if the main board of the TV is faulty. The component input consists of five wires which are in green, white, blue, red and red colors. However, if you are not able to get a picture using component cables, it would confirm that there is a failure in the main board’s digital portion of the TV and that the analog is faulty. In that case, you would need to have a new main board or a new TV set, particularly in a case like yours.

HDMI connections are used in home theater setups that include HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc players, cable or satellite boxes. HDMI, however, has its share of problems like lack of picture and sound, distorted picture, poor cable quality. If you need clarification about your specific situation with respect to issues related to HDMI Problems, you may ask a television Expert to evaluate your case details and provide a technical insight.

  • I have a Sanyo DP50749 50" tv that will act like it is turning

I have a Sanyo DP50749 50" tv that will act like it is turning on (light comes on, screen shows it is powering on) and then it turns off within less than a minute. I have had it for about 3 years. Is this something that I can fix myself?
  • I have a Prima LCD TV. About 2 weeks ago I hooked up a VCR/CD

I have a Prima LCD TV. About 2 weeks ago I hooked up a VCR/CD player. Yesterday I was playing a CD and I stopped the Cd. A screen saver icon was moving across the screen as it has prior times but yesterday I heard a pop and fizzle and the tv was dead and will no longer turn on. I have tried unplugging it for 60 seconds and tried to turn it on but no response. I assume that the TV is not repairable or may not be worth repairing.
  • I have a 5 disc, AM & FM, Tape 1,2 boom box. I hadn't played

I have a 5 disc, AM & FM, Tape 1,2 boom box. I hadn't played it in a while but I had it covered during that time. When I placed a CD to be played, it started spinning then stopped before a sound came out and recycled to the next empty disc slot. After trying to play a CD in the different slots, it repeated the processed. What is happening?
