Front Loading Washer Problems
A washing machine is used to launder clothing using water as the primary cleaning agent accompanied with soap or detergent. The front load machine has the inner basket and outer tub that is mounted horizontally. The loading happens through a door at the front of the machine which may not be transparent in all models. Agitation obtained from the rotation of the cylinder cleans the clothes. Common front loading washer problems are leakage, noise or display errors.
Listed below are a few common questions answered by the Experts on front loading washer problems.
Why does my GE front loading washer make a banging type of noise? How can I fix it?
First thing to check would be if the basket is centered with the opening. Ideally there should be no movement along with the tub it encloses when you try to push it up and down. If the basket is moving around a lot more than it should one of the supports welded behind it could have broken and will need to be replaced. The other possibility could be faulty tub bearings. However to determine if this is the issue the entire machine will need to be disassembled. The problem you are facing can be quite expensive to fix and quite time consuming as well.
What is the meaning of error code E23 on my Frigidaire Affinity front load washer?.
The E23 error usually indicates the drain pump relay on the control board is faulty. You will need to remove the hoses clean the drain and catch. If the drain pump or drain is not clogged and you have cleaned everything, the problem most likely lies with the control board. The interface control board may need to be ordered and replaced to fix the issue. Based on the model, the cost of this component is approximately $150.
Something stuck between the spinning drum and the interior of the machine is making a grinding noise. How can I access this space? Can I remove the large rubber gasket?
To reach the area you wish to it may involve the entire tub to be removed and the outer tub to be disassembled. The rubber gasket can be removed but this may not enable you to get closer to the space between the inner and outer basket. All these actions are quite tedious and difficult for an untrained person to accomplish. It would be wiser to have a technician take up this job.
Why does my Samsung front load washer leave the clothes wet after the wash cycle? Water also remains in the washer.
In this model at the front bottom left side you should find a coin trap. The first step is to ensure this is clear of debris. The problem you are facing could probably be due to a restriction in the drain line or a clogged drain.
Why is my new Samsung front load washer smell of mold?
Typically the boot is the main source for mold or mildew. Another source can be the filter and drain pump if there is lint accumulation or mold developing there. If the filter and drain pump is clear, check where the smell is originating from. If it is from the door area you should ensure the door is left open when not in use. If you are do laundry once a week, you can leave the door open for 24 to 48 hours after a load and keep it shut the remaining time. To clear out the smell you can run a hot water cycle pouring half a cup of white vinegar into the area where you usually put the detergent. After a complete cycle, let the door remain open. Air fresheners work best if they can mix in the air and circulate out. Using it inside a washer will compress it inside and probably aggravate the mold and odor. Air fresheners could temporarily cover up the problem but not remedy it. It could also damage the rubber in the washer.
Why does my Whirlpool front loading washer stop just before completing a wash? Once it stops the time always flashes as 0:06.
This is actually an error code F-06 which signifies problems with the drive tachometer in the motor. Usually this error occurs due to a connection problem. Remove the top and back panels of your machine to find the central control unit (CCU) at the upper front right corner and the motor control unit (MCU) mounted at the base of the machine. Uninstall each connector individually and reconnect into the control unit. This may sort out the error. You could try running another cycle to check this.
Front load washers offer their unique advantages as well as issues as described above. Diagnosing and isolating the problem area or component is the key to fixing the issues. Some issues can be resolved by you with minimum dismantling while others require professional intervention as it is not simple to disassemble these washers. The help and guidance from Experts can be very helpful to arrive at a solution at a reasonable cost. .

We have a Maytag front loading washer model number MAH5500BWW.
We have a Maytag front loading washer model number MAH5500BWW. Recently it stopped spin drying. I found the belt laying in the bottom of the cabinet. It shows signs of where on the tub side of the belt. There are small grooves worn into the tub that I believe are from the belt. There is black dust in the recesses of the tub and on the bottom of the cabinet. There is some brown powder that must have been moist for it is not dried and caked onto most of the bottom of the cabinet. I purchased a new belt and followed the instructions to install it. But it won't stay on the drum pulley. What can you suggest?

Hi--I have a GE Energy Star front loading washer & something
Hi--I have a GE Energy Star front loading washer & something went awry when I did a load today; when I came to see if the wash cycle was complete, the cycle had stopped & the machine was making a strange noise. I also have not been able to get the door to unlock. I turned the machine off & then back on, & tried doing a spin cycle to see if that would reset it. The door kept making a noise like it was trying to lock or something & I was still unable to open the door. I also tried unplugging the machine & the same issues. I have a repair person coming out, but not until Wed. My main concern now is to open the door to get my clothes out, so they're not mildewed. Is there anything I can do to get the door open? Thanks.
