I'm really at my wits and at this point. I have a 5 1/2

I'm really at my wits and at this point. I have a 5 1/2 year-old, neutered, mail, French mastiff, current and up-to-date on all vaccinations. About three weeks ago I took him to the vet because he was barely eating, losing weight, barely drinking water, super sad and had diarrhea very bad. We did a full blood panel, everything came back normal. We did a urinalysis, everything came back normal. We did x-rays, everything came back normal. That had no idea what might be wrong and the only other thing we could do it that point would be an ultrasound. I decided to hold off on the ultrasound, took him back home, a day and a half later he's eating again, drinking water again, gaining weight, going back to his normal self, playful, etc. as though nothing was ever wrong. And he's being his normal self ever cents until yesterday, now the diarrhea has returned, no longer interested in food again, barely drinking water, etc. my dogs are not kenneled, they don't go to dog parks, they don't go to doggy day care, they are inside dogs, they don't eat any human food whatsoever with the exception of the boiled chicken that goes in their dog food. Etc.. I think they are well protected so to speak from "accidentally" getting into something. Plus Capone is super finicky about anything he puts in his mouth. The vet did say taking all things into consideration, his history, the current bloodwork, urinalysis, x-ray, etc. it could possibly be cancer, but she said we don't know that for sure. I don't mind getting the ultrasound done and at this point I will make an appointment for that but I guess after saying all of this I guess my question is is there any other possible explanation, diagnosis, possibility, etc. of what this could be? Some rare form of something that is often times miss diagnosed? Anything like that? Do the symptoms match something that may be my vet has never seen before so therefore they're not familiar with it, etc. anything like that? It's extremely frustrating when you're doing everything you can and you're spending money on all these tests but yet you still don't know what's wrong and there's no formal diagnosis. My dog obviously isn't feeling well and doesn't have good quality of life at the moment.Thank youDonyale

Vomiting and nausea.....but also s right back leg is

Vomiting and nausea.....but also his right back leg is trembling and floating off the ground; and obviously painful, as he's yelping and chewing at his foot.JA: I'm sorry to hear that. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the dog?Customer: The leg floating thing has happened a couple times in the past....not sure if it's causing the vomiting/diarrhea. I gave him a couple small bites of smoked salmon earlier today....could there be something in it that poisoned him?JA: OK. Got it. My elderly dog has been prescribed flagyl. My experience

My elderly dog has been prescribed flagyl. My experience with this drug is that dogs hate it, foam up, fling it everywhere and sometimes spew it out their nose. I'm tempted to deliver it deeper in his mouth but worried about aspiration pneumonia with this old fellow who already has some chronic respiratory issues. Can you tell me what is known about the likelihood of that in dogs? I know dogs are far less likely than humans to choke on food due to structure of trachea. But aspiration pneumonia I'm unsure of.Thanks!
