My Havanaise had diarrhea for about three days and I took him into the vet. I did not have a stool sample with me but they did go ahead and put him on five days of antibiotics. Within a day and a half of being off of the antibiotic the diarrhea started again. I waited a couple more days and then I had a sample which I took to the vet but it tested normal. The vet then decided to go ahead and put him on 10 days of antibiotics to see if that would help. He just finished a day and a half ago and again the diarrhea is starting again.JA: I'm sorry to hear that. My 8 year old poodle mix has had four occasions of suddenly
My 8 year old poodle mix has had four occasions of suddenly not wanting to eat anything, with a loud stomach and discomfort that ended in diarrhea. The first two times were several days apart about two weeks ago. Last week it happened again but the end of the diarrhea was very bloody, not just streaks. Once it passed he was fine and went back to eating and playing as usual. A day or two later it happened again with even more blood. His stool starts as normal and the tale end is bloody diarrhea. The first three times were in the morning. The most recent time happened in the middle of the night last Saturday. Since he went back to normal after it passed I didn't take him to the emergency pet hospital. Now it's been almost three days of normal stool and eating, although his breath does smell a little odd. During the course of these episodes he was getting into the food I feed my large dogs. He liked it so much that I bought the small breed version. I mixed that with his food the day of or before the first bloody incident so I assumed there must be something in that brand of food that he can't handle, but I'm wondering if it could be something else.

HI,My dog now has symptoms of giardia after about 3 months of being treated for it...she has been plagued with this condition for a couple years. the vet charges a fee for diagnosis and then another $30- or so for the medication to treat giardia..Flagil?. we live near water and walk there frequently. Is there a low dose medication that I can give her to prevent this condition from occurring so frequently?

I have a Portuguese Water Dog. Now 2 years old. She will throw up stomach acid every so often in the morning if I try taking her for a walk before she eats. Leads me to believe it's due to her stomach being empty too long? From the research I've done online. I had switched her to meals 3x a day with last one before bed around 9-10pm. This fixed the issue for a while but it's come back. She won't even eat breakfast until around 1pm now and when trying to walk almost everytime within minutes she's trying to eat as much grass as possible then throws up. Only stomach acid comes out along with the grass. What can I do? My vet here hasn't been helpful thus far.

My husky had a tad of blood under her tail near her rectum when I looked. I just happened to see three dots on the floor this am. I had her on duck food but made her constipated. I switched her back to her weight management food acouple weeks ago. Its a bright red not dark red. I didnt see any in her stool. She runs and plays as usual. Just worried about the drops I saw.
He has been diagnosed with pre-CHF. The medicine he was
Hi - He has been diagnosed with pre-CHF. The medicine he was prescribed (Vetmedin) has terrible side effects. His cardiologist said just reduce the dosage, but he is vomiting now. I need a better, safer alternative to help him. He will not continue to get this medication. The side effects actually list "sudden death". I have read magnesium and vit c (among other herbs and vitamins can help. But dosage is not listed. My dog is a 10 year old toy poodle who weighs apprx 15 lbs. he's been gaining weight since he was diagnosed. He also has a terrible cough /gagging that we can't seem to get under control. The cardiologist refuses to accept it's part of his heart condition.JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did your toy poodle eat anything unusual?Customer: He has stopped accepting his very expensive dog food (he was on fish & sweet potato kibble because he has multiple food allergies.JA: What is the toy poodle's name?Customer: Now he eats mostly low sodium homemade foods. His name is Max.JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Max?Customer: He's had a few seizures in the past. He does not take medication for it and hasn't had one in some time now (over a year). And he's really cute and lovable unless he's on that medicine, then he's mean.JA: OK.
