I have a 9 - 10 year old female Pomeranian (rescued 2 years

I have a 9 - 10 year old female Pomeranian (rescued 2 years ago). She has had some problems with acid reflux, severe allergies, etc. Two weeks ago I thought the groomer had bruised her belly because she had red/purple spots. When I got her to a vet her platelet count was at zero. The next day they had her up to 7. Then two days later she was at 150 and they let me bring her home. Two days later she was back to 30. She has been in the hospital for five days now, and it is up to 94. She is currently being treated with Prednisone, Famotidine and Atopica. My concern and question is, shouldn't she have been responding faster? According to the vet, she does not have cancer, no ticks (we live in Las Vegas), no vaccines have been given to her in years. What do you think?JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the Pomeranian? I'll do all I can to help.Customer: I think I put most of it in. I believe the diagnosis was THROMBOCYTOPANIA.

My 12 year old Bichon was diagnosed with diabetes and

My 12 year old Bichon was diagnosed with diabetes and cushings a year ago. After several months of adjusting her insulin dose, she was doing great on 11 units x2 daily and 7 mg trilostane 2x daily. About three weeks ago her appetite just disappeared. The vet ran all kinds of tests which revealed nothing, and had me stop the trilostane for four days and then start back once a day instead of twice daily, and drop the insulin to 6 units 2x day. My pup still has very little appetite, and is lethargic. She has also started having shaking episodes, which has happened on a couple of occasions. Any thoughts on how to get her appetite and energy back, and stop the shaking? Her coat has also gotten thinner recently.

My 12 year Pekingese who is recovering from IVDD surgery 3

My 12 year Pekingese who is recovering from IVDD surgery 3 months post-op was diagnosed with staph pseudintermedius and was treated with Chloramphenicol 500mg 3x times a day for 4 weeks. After completing week 3 we noticed he started showing side effects of wobbly weak legs called the vet and he has recommend we stop medication and switch to Zeniquin 50mg 1 pill a day for 21 additional days. No follow up or blood test was performed before switching to this new medication. I'm afraid of similar or worse side effects. Is this a safer alternative? I'm really worried. My dog has been through so much already. The staph pseudintermedius seems to have cleared up and I don't know if I should change vets? Stop all medication or just follow instructions. Please help!

My dogs first day on vet recommended 500mg 3x times a day

My dogs first day on vet recommended 500mg 3x times a day chloramphenicol to treat staph pseudintermedius. He took his pill dosage 1 & 2 earlier in the day just fine. However his last dosage of the day he refused to take and kept spitting it out. I tried everything but failed. Is it ok to miss a dosage, will try again tomorrow morning and I will check with my vet first thing in the morning on alternatives if all else fails. Just need answers now for our peace of mind.

Dr Scott, My Chihuahua has been sick for about 2 months, he's been to his vet repeatedly and we still can't find relief for him. He's had a cough, gagging, wheezing, sneezing...etc. He was exposed to Kennel Cough in July and many different medications have been tried. I am hoping to get a new perspective possibly.
