I am restoring a 1987 chev caprice classic, It was in storage for numerous years and someone cut the positive and negative battery cables by the battery and stole the battery, I have extended the cables with a heavy buse fues connection and appropriate with and put in a battery, There is no power at all in the car even though the battery tests strong and good, The car is mechanically in great shape and only has 19355 original miles on it. any suggestions what the no power could be corrected by, I'm thinking the battery junction block, the power accessory fuse 30 amp, circuit breaker in the fuse panel or some fuseable link, any suggestions would be appreciated thankyyou.JA: Lots of things can cause problems with the battery. The Chevy Mechanic will know what to do. My name is Pete. I have a 1996 Caprice Classic/Impala clone. I think the fuel pump has failed. I replaced the fuel pump relay under the hood in the fuse box, but I also bought a fuel pump relay that is larger and different. Where does it go? Here is a link to what it looks like:JA: Thanks. Can you give me any more details about your issue?Customer: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/MPI0/2DR1059/01722.oap?year=1996&make=Chevrolet&model=Caprice&vi=1037506&ck=Search_01722_1037506_4358&pt=01722&ppt=C0025 Yes. It started up for a few seconds then stalled. I put 2 gallons of gas and it did the same thing. I put 2 more in and it did the same thing. Now nothing. When I turn the ignition partially on I don't hear the fuel pump go on.JA: OK got it. Chevrolet: Someone donated a 94 Chevy Caprice Classic with
Someone donated a 94 Chevy Caprice Classic with a 5.7 V8 to the church. It hasn't been run much since 2010. I replaced the starter (wires corroded) and was able to start and drive the car. Sounds great when idling. Car has plenty of power and feels great when accelerating. One thing I did notice was that at part throttle, it feels like the car isn't running right. I guess the best way to describe...if I'm gently accelerating, it feels like there is a dead spot. If I hold the throttle here, it isn't running right....If I push the throttle further like on a harder accel, it feels fine. When getting up to highway speeds, again on the heavier accel, it is fine, but when you get up to the hwy speed and back off on the gas, it feels like it is running lumpy. Things I've done....completely emptied gas tank and filled fresh. Added bottle of sea foam. I removed the IAC and cleaned w/ iac spray- was pretty dirty. I pulled apart to clean both upstream and downstream side. I also cleaned the t/b as best I could. I didn't remove the iac, but did spray the t/b spray in there. After doing all this, still runs the same as before doing this. Looking for ideas on what to do. Check engine light is off.
