Air Purifier Repair
What is an air purifier? An air purifier as the name suggests is used to purify the air of contaminants such as dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores and so on. They also act to reduce the concentration of airborne contaminants. Air purifiers are commonly marketed to people suffering from allergies and asthma but yet are not limited to these types of people. These units can be combined with the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
Listed below are a few questions answered by the Experts on air purifier repair.
I cleaned my air purifier as well as repaired some wires on it. Now the system is making a clicking noise. How can I get my air purifier to stop arcing and making noise?
Arcing indicates that a metal piece could be too close to the anode. Check the wire repair and ensure pieces are not sticking out too far. If there is any contact, the breaker could trip. Try making a small hole in the duct and look for the arcs. You will be able to see where the issue is originating. Sometimes after the purifier has been washed or cleaned. The fins on the air purifier can arc if moisture is retained on it. The fins should be given some drying time. The unit could run without the fins inserted but the mesh filters should be in place, another filter can be inserted in place of the fins.
I turned off my Honeywell Environcare air purifier system to clean the filter and now it is not working. What has happened?
First check if the tabs within the air cleaner are aligned properly with the cells. If they are aligned, the test button should work. If the air cleaner is receiving power and the tabs are working fine, the power pack probably needs to be replaced. This can be done by you at home as it is not too complicated. More information on how to do this replacement available on the below link:
I am unable to reset the pre-filter on my air purifier, which is displaying a red light continuously. How can I reset this?
Unplug the air purifier turn it over upside down at least three times. The cleaner balls inside the unit will slide up and down the static field wires. The unit may also require opening and cleaning.. Once you open the unit, carefully wipe the wires and the interior with a warm soapy cloth. Follow the inverting procedure again and reinstate the power. If you do not have a manual, you can request customer care at Honeywell. They could provide a link or mail a manual free of charge.
What can I do about my Honeywell air purifier which suddenly stopped working? I have cleaned the filter and the fan was working when I turned it on. An hour later, I am unable to hear the fan.
Either your purifier could have a faulty switch or a faulty motor. The motor and switch are located in the power-head assembly part of the unit. As per the manual, this device has a five year warranty. It would be wiser to return this product to Honeywell for them to service it under warranty. If you have crossed the warranty period, the product could be returned to Honeywell as it is likely they would have a minimal charge for repair and also stock all the parts which you may need.
What does the yellow light signify on a Holmes tower air purifier?
Machines which have an indicator light must be reset once the HEPA filter has been replaced. Only a pre-filter is washable whereas the heap/carbon filet is not. To reset the indicator, insert a small object, it could be a pin or a paper clip into the hole labeled “Reset”. Below is the manual of your particular model.

I am trying to see what the difference between the 59MN7 and the 59TN6 carrier furnaces
hi i am trying to see what the difference between the 59MN7 and the 59TN6 carrier furnaces are. we have a 3500 sq feet home in new england and it now has 2 floors, a basement and an attic. we have 2 seperate furnaces now from 1980. we wanted to get an air purifier and humidifier option on it and are trying to stay within rebate for our state. it says we need to have at least 95% afue with an ecm. we also wanted to replace our ac unit and that needs to be greater or equal to 18seer an greater or equal to 13 eer. what is the best models and way to go about this. we wanted to keep costs lower if possible but also be able to qualify for rebate. thanks very much. do you think those models would be good for us or do you recommend another option.

My 20 yr old Trane 4-ton A/C unit is no longer holding its
My 20 yr old Trane 4-ton A/C unit is no longer holding its R-22 charge well at all. (It's been a Clydesdale, eh?) Am being offered Carier 16 Seer (not Infinity, but Performance) and 80% Performance Boost Furnace for $8,828 (incl Carrier Air Purifier and Humidifier). Am being told that this is 33% savings. Find that hard to believe. Do you suggest shopping around more or just negotiating a bit based on my extensive on-line comparisons (I've bought a/c, furnace, and purifier systems from this vendor for 38 yrs now)? Realize that specific models make a difference. Thanks.
