My son has allergies. I am thinking about an air purifier
My son has allergies. I am thinking about an air purifier for his room? Do you have any suggestions? I noticed there are some that are in the low 100's in price and some that are really expensive. I heard to stay away from the electric static precipitatorsas they create ozone. Also I heard carbon filters can created more problems. I don't want to get into a big expense .
I am trying to see what the difference between the 59MN7 and the 59TN6 carrier furnaces
hi i am trying to see what the difference between the 59MN7 and the 59TN6 carrier furnaces are. we have a 3500 sq feet home in new england and it now has 2 floors, a basement and an attic. we have 2 seperate furnaces now from 1980. we wanted to get an air purifier and humidifier option on it and are trying to stay within rebate for our state. it says we need to have at least 95% afue with an ecm. we also wanted to replace our ac unit and that needs to be greater or equal to 18seer an greater or equal to 13 eer. what is the best models and way to go about this. we wanted to keep costs lower if possible but also be able to qualify for rebate. thanks very much. do you think those models would be good for us or do you recommend another option.

Currently have Bryant furnace model 355cav and Bryant ac 113a/116b. I currently have a Bryant evolution stat, the monochrome screen one, that utilizes the proprietary a b c d writing scheme.I would like to install the seducing generation nest thermostat. What writing changes must I make on the ac and furnace to make this work. Also what connections do I make from the furnace to the stat.

My 20 yr old Trane 4-ton A/C unit is no longer holding its R-22 charge well at all. (It's been a Clydesdale, eh?) Am being offered Carier 16 Seer (not Infinity, but Performance) and 80% Performance Boost Furnace for $8,828 (incl Carrier Air Purifier and Humidifier). Am being told that this is 33% savings. Find that hard to believe. Do you suggest shopping around more or just negotiating a bit based on my extensive on-line comparisons (I've bought a/c, furnace, and purifier systems from this vendor for 38 yrs now)? Realize that specific models make a difference. Thanks.

I have a 2 story 80 yr old house sectioned into 2 apts (top floor and bottom floor). The apt on 1st floor has a smoker (long story but I can't get him out or to stop-life estate) that the 2nd fl says they now that its winter smell smoke in every room. I can't see how cigrarate odor would get into 2nd fl. Both apts have their own zoned HVAC. There is a closed off chimmney to the basement. It would seem the smoke is somehow being pulled in the 2nd fl return and spread all over the house. What could be the cause? What remedies do I have to block/filter entirely? I can't (hostile tenatn on 1st fl) ask him where he smokes but I assume either basement, in 1st fl apt or outside.

I have a shallow pan condensation pump next to my furnace.View more hvac questions
I have a shallow pan condensation pump next to my furnace. It pumps the water to the ceiling through the attic and down into the washer drain pipe. The line is probably 8 1/2 feet up, 3 feet over and 3 feet down into the laundry room. Its been this way for 8 years. I just replaced the pump. When the furnace kicks on, the pump is going off like every minute. Seems way to often. I checked the line, when the pump goes off water comes out in one burst and then trickles. Then a minute later the same thing. Could build up in the line be the problem?
