Customer Question

Tax question. I am self employed (sole proprietor) and have health insurance for me and my family. I got this we insurance with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. The policy is in my name. I did not go through the marketplace. Questions: Does it matter if the health insurance is in my name or should it be in the company name? Also, does it matter if I went through the marketplace? Thanks.

Hi. Great Question. Is your business an LLC or a sole proprietorship? If it is under your name and you are the owner of the business, you can deduct it as self-employed health insurance on your 1040.
