I need to get copies of my 2004 and 2005 W2 as our copies

Customer Question

I need to get copies of my 2004 and 2005 W2 as our copies were destroyed in a flood. the IRS says we owe a bunch for 2004 - like more than 1/2 of what we made. I have gone to the IRS but they said they could only give me 2009 and up. Is there anyway to get 2004 and 2005?
JA: The Accountant will know how to help. Is there anything else the Accountant should be aware of?
Customer: We have not filed for those years so we need to get the W2s so that we can file now.

Hi. Great Question. Your prior employer should have a copy on file, as well as any year-end stubs from prior years.

The previous employer has gone bankrupt and does not have any way to get old records

Hi. Did you employer have an outside payroll company prepare their w-2's - the payroll company should have a record.

Another option - is to get your income transcript from social security.
