Have a Tax Question? Ask a Tax Expert
Hi, my name is ***** ***** I'm happy to answer your question. I'm a CPA with 25 years experience.
As you are probably well aware, a tax credit is a dollar for dollar reduction in tax, whereas a tax deduction is a reduction in taxable income.
Under current tax law, there are no provisions for a taxpayer to get a tax credit as a result of making a charitable donation. Only a tax deduction.
