Have a Tax Question? Ask a Tax Expert
Hi I'm happy to help. -Rick
Are you looking to eFile, and so this is what you need the PIN for? Are you filing joint with another person or single?
Those offers come from Just Answer, not me. I can answer your question now. You get your PIN from the IRS website, I will provide the information in a moment. Depending on what tax software you use, if you file your own taxes, you may only need to get the PIN once and the software will remember it.
Perfect. You should only need to get your PINs once. You will need the following information:
- Full Name- Social Security Number (or Taxpayer Identification Number)- Date of Birth- Filing Status (previous year tax return e.g. Single, Married Filing Jointly)- Mailing Address
I'm searching for the correct link now, should only take a minute or two.
This is a new step for eFile.
Here is the link. The purpose is to help protect your identity.
Thank you for this opportunity to answer your question. Please take a moment to rate me as I strive to maintain my 5 star rating. Have a great day! -Rick
