Have a Tax Question? Ask a Tax Expert
Hi. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to help you.
Even if no depreciation was deducted you will still have to account for it and reduce your basis by the allowable depreciation. If the property was rented for more than 27 year, depending on value of the land, 70 - 90% of the sales proceeds will be your capital gains.
- purchase price
- not fully depreciated improvements
- expenses of sale
= capital gains.
