I have a client that set up a NY corp in Jan of 2015. He didnt obtan a fed EIN. The entity only had activity for 1 month before ceasing. What returns do I file? Kindly advise
Hi from Just Answer. I'm PDtax. I'll assist.
You might file the 1120S, and use "APPLIED FOR" as the EIN. File the CT-3-S as well.
Or, you could file the operations under the taxpayer's social on a schedule C, and just dissolve the corporation.
I say that because you likely could not open a bank account without the EIN.
Thanks for asking at Just Answer. Positive feedback is appreciated. I'm PDtax.
Since the company is opened and closed in the same year.
Does the client still need to go back and obtain a number
or will applied for suffice
"applied for" will suffice.
Even though no number will be obtained?
Yes. Even though no number will be obtained.
It will allow IRS and NY to assign a temporary number if they choose to. You will be marking the returns "FINAL".
Yes thanks much
