Thanks for asking your question! I'm sorry to hear about your tax issue and I'm going to try my best to help you understand or resolve it.
Typically, US citizens are not subject to backup withholding. So long as you provide the requestor of information with your name and social security number, and have not been notified by the IRS that you are subject to backup withholding
then you are not subject to backup withholding.
You will not be subject to backup withholding simply because you owe the IRS money
So, unless the IRS has informed you that you are subject to backup withholding, you are not subject to backup withholding
Is there anything else that I can assist you with today? I would say it's a safe bet that you are NOT subject to backup withholding. Please let me know if you need anything additional. If not, please rate my response "excellent" so that I may receive credit for assisting you today
I have received a letter informing I owe the $200
That does not make you subject to backup withholding
That just means you owe the IRS 200
what is backup holding?
Backup withholding is typically for non-US citizens, and also people who don't give their social security number to people that pay them money so that an information return (1099) can be filed
thanks hav e a nice day!!!
