However, the IRS will issue you a temporary pin #

I have followed that, and it wants my last years tax info. I have been working for years and have never done my past tax returns. I just wanted to try and start doing them but it won't help me. Also they won't answer their phones.
Obviously your last year's AGI will be $0

ya it says my agi doesn't match what they have on their records. And yes take your time.
Here's what it says to do if you're a first time filer
If a 2010 tax return was not filed, what amount should be entered the Prior Year AGI or prior year PIN?
Enter “0” (zero) for the original Prior Year AGI. Do not leave this field blank. However, the Prior Year PIN/Electronic Filing PIN field should be left blank.
I know it references 2010, but the law hasn't changed

then your next thing to do is call IRS at(NNN) NNN-NNNN/p>
Worse case secnario would be that you would have to mail in your return
Although the wait will be a little longer, since you're filing after tax season, the time SHOULD be shorter that the 6-8 weeks we tell people during tax time

your question only stated that you put a 0 for the pin but you mentioned nothing about putting a $0 for last year's AGI

there was a time when ALL first time filers had to mail in their returns just to get in the IRS system
