Randalltax :

Thank you for contacting me about your Tax issue. I will work hard to help you understand the issue clearly.

Randalltax :

What types of income items are on your tax return?

Randalltax :

Where do you see a $199 "business tax"?

Customer :

I am reporting mine and my wife's income. She is a teacher and I am a federal employee.

Randalltax :

Does she have a Schedule C? Is she self-employed?

Customer :

No we are both not self employed

Randalltax :

So where do you see this "business tax"?

Customer :

I am going to reopen turbo tax and look.

Randalltax :

ok

Customer :

business items section in business taxes

Randalltax :

And if you go into this section, you must have income there. Do you see it listed?

Randalltax :

Do you have TurboTax Online or do you have the desktop software on your PC?

Customer :

I have a 1099 misc for a settlement I entered in another section

Randalltax :

First, what type of settlement and in which box is the income listed?

Customer :

Adams v US Qualified Settlement for back pay

Customer :

box 3

Randalltax :

OK. So this in fact is in the correct place.

Randalltax :

You do owe Self Employment tax on this income because taxes were not taken out of your settlement.

Customer :

It has 0 fed income tax withheld box 4 but paid tax from the gross payment

Randalltax :

If this is reported on 1099_MISC as you indicate, it is reported correctly and the program is treating it correctly.

Customer :

OK next issue cannot enter day care provider for my kids day care.

Randalltax :

What is the exact difficulty?

Customer :

I enter my kids names and info but it goes round and round. and cannot enter deduction

Randalltax :

I am still unsure exactly what you mean.

Randalltax :

Is there a particular screen you are stuck on or that keeps coming up?

Customer :

It is not allowing me to enter the day care business info to proceed with deduction. O is showng up for this.

Customer :

$0

Randalltax :

Are you at the screen to enter the business name and tax ID?

Customer :

I'llget there

Customer :

Yes

Randalltax :

Do you have the EIN?

Customer :

Yes I do, Actually I am not at the screen to enter that. It is stuck with enter kids information.

Randalltax :

Well let's start at the beginning of the section then.

Randalltax :

Did you select the child/ren?

Customer :

yes

Randalltax :

What is the problem?

Customer :

Ive been doing this over and over to no prevail. Did not have this issue the past 3 yrs with turbo tax.

Customer :

It is not allowing me to enter facility oand their ein #

Randalltax :

what happens?

Customer :

Is there a remedy or do I lose this deduction this year because of the sofware.

Customer :

I ll put my kids info in again and leyt you know ewhere it stops give me a minute

Randalltax :

There is no error in the software, and I cannot determine the nature of your problem

Customer :

It asks do u have anotherb dep add them now. I already entered my two.

Randalltax :

you need to select them.

Customer :

Done / Back to who received care u paid for then /it says i dont qualify

Randalltax :

Please check to see if you enter the W-2s correctly and you did not put your wife's W2 as yours

Customer :

I'll check.

Customer :

I have $2200 dep care benefits box 10 in my w2.

Randalltax :

Ah!

Randalltax :

That's important.

Randalltax :

How many children did you have that qualify for day care?

Customer :

2

Randalltax :

How much total was spent on daycare?

Customer :

approx 5300. paid 5,263.00

Randalltax :

OK, so the maximum will be reduced by the 2200 already counted.

Customer :

right

Randalltax :

But you will need to complete the child care section.

Randalltax :

And you will need to assign an amount paid of the 5263 between the children

Randalltax :

Did you verify there wa at least one w-2 for you and one for your spouse?

Customer :

I'll need help with this because I have been trying,

Customer :

Ihave both w2s entered

Randalltax :

and the names are correct as to whom they go to?

Customer :

Yes

Randalltax :

This is a case that I would suggest a TT representative be able to share your screen so that we can work together watching the screen. It is very difficult in this mode to resolve this type of diagnostic. I cannot do a share-screen here.

Randalltax :

If you go to the TurboTax website www.turbotax.com and indicate a data entry issue, you can get a rep on the phone (rather than chat) who can share the screen.

Randalltax :

This may be the best way to resolve this issue.

Customer :

I entered my kids info correctly. it said I get 3800 each, then it says I dont qualify because it was not entered.

Randalltax :

what does not qualify and what was not entered?

Randalltax :

THe 3800 just verifies they are qualified as dependents. The 2800 is an exemption, not a child credit

Randalltax :

3800 rather

Customer :

it says who received the care I paid for after it said my total dep duductions so far are

Customer :

7600

Customer :

am I entering something wrong?

Randalltax :

7600 = 3800 X 2

Randalltax :

I think you have a check box or other entry messed up somewhere. This is why you need to have an agent vew your screen while you work

Customer :

my # is 631 241 2722

Randalltax :

I am unable to call out

Customer :

Can I call you?

Randalltax :

You should talk with TurboTax on this issue.

Randalltax :

You can call me at TurboTax

Customer :

How do i do that? do you have the turbo tax #?

Randalltax :

i just gave you a alink

Randalltax :

You probably won't get me directly.

Randalltax :

There are 500 agents

Randalltax :

I am sorry we cannot resolve this issue in this format, but we did fix one question

Customer :

I am out in the lurch. i have no number to call. redid my password for turbo tax to no avail cannot log on to the help site. need a phone # to reach someone. very frustrated,

Randalltax :

I gave you a link toget a phone number above.

Randalltax :

TurboTax does NOT publish phone numbers because the number is based on the type of isse and it requires you to enter some information first.

Randalltax :

The link does not require a password

Randalltax :

You can recover your password by following the sign in link and clicking the password help option in blue

Randalltax :

Use the LINK, Luke. The Power of The Internet is before you. You must USE it!

Randalltax :

Thanks
