Hi, I can hell with this ...
(help, that is)
NEED TO KNOW RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR EIC.
No residency requirement, other than US ...
See this from IRS:
Right here is an excellent online tool on IRS' site for seeing if you qualify:
BUT ARE THERE ANY RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS?
None whatsoever, other than being a us Citizen or a non-resident alien
It's, as you know already, about whether the child qualifies under the varioious tests and your support of them
Where you liive really has nothing to do with it
Are these children relatives or non relatives?
Under the residency test relatives do not need to live in your house to qualify as a dependent exemption. BUT, non-relatives can be claimed as dependent exemptions only if they also live in your house.
BUT if this IS your house, where you get your mail, etc It qualifies as your house
If you live there rent free, you are still a tenant (It's called tenancy at will, in legal terms)
