My son is a veteran with an 80% VA Disability rating. In addition, he is receiving Social Security disability. In 2009, he had no earned income. Is there any reason for him to file am imcome tax return for 2009?

Assuming your son is single, if he does not have any income of $9,350 or more which is subject to tax, and he has had not taxes withheld from any of his benefits where a refund would be due, then he is not required to file a return.
