Are Annual Dues to a non-profit tax deductible?

Resolved Question:

Are my Annual Dues to a non-profit organization tax deductible?

Membership dues are not a deductible expense even though they are for membership to a nonprofit organization, such as Elks Lodge or similar organizations. There is a difference between nonprofit organizations and charitable organizations.

Donations you make to a qualified charitable organization are deductible, but not every nonprofit is designated as a charitable organization, and dues paid to such an organization would not be a deductible expense.
