I am preparing my taxes for 2008. Is there a way to find out how much I paid thus far for estimated 2008 taxes? I have conflicting paperwork and can't find the amount
State/Country relating to question: Illinois Already Tried: IRS website
Hello jjeannie,When you made your estimated tax payments, did you mail these to the IRS or did you make electronic payments using the EFPTS system?
I know I mailed 3,000 at the time that I filed the extension. I did not make quarterly payments. I made a note that I paid 12,000 in estimated payments and I think I mailed it but I'm not sure. but I don't know if that was in addition to the 3,000. Is there a way to find a total that I paid
Hello again jjeannie,If you did not make your estimated payments by electronic filing, then there is no way to check on line to see what the total was of your estimated payments. The only way that you can obtain a total of the payments posted to your account is by calling the IRS at(NNN) NNN-NNNN In most cases, the representative should be able to give you this information right over the phone. If for some reason the information is not readily available at the time you call, you can request a tax transcript be sent to you. In most cases a tax transcript can be faxed to you within 24 hours, and the transcript would contain a record of any estimated payments you submitted for the 2008 tax year.If this was helpful please press the Accept button.Thank you jjeannie and let me know if you have more questions. I am happy to help you with whatever I can.
