I have a tax lien from Maryland because they never recieved my 1999 state tax return. If I file a tax return for 1999 again, will they remove the lien from my credit report?
HelloCustomer If you file and pay the taxes that are due to Maryland, then they should release the tax lien, and a report of that release should also be sent to the credit reporting agency. The lien would then be removed from your credit report. However, you need to keep in mind that none of this happens overnight. By the time you pay the taxes and by the time the state submits the lien release, it may be several months before it is actually taken off of your credit report. So if you are trying to have this removed for purposes of obtaining a loan or something of that nature, it may still be a few months before that information is removed.
