Do you have income other than your SS income?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
I am retired and have a pension that has tax taken out each month. I haven't had to pay taxes up to receiving Social Security

Can you tell me how much SS you receive each year?

What is the annual amount you receive from your pension?

Do you file your return as single or married?

2. Approx. 39,000

3. Single

Hello again Weeble,

Based on your income, it does appear that 85% of your SS benefits will be taxable.

If you wish to start having tax withheld from your SS checks, you must complete Form W-4V and submit that form to your local SS office either by mail or in person. Here is a link to that form.

You must request that one of the following percentages be withheld:

You cannot request any other percentages other than these and you cannot request that a flat dollar amount be withheld.
