Hello rose,

Welcome to JustAnswer.

Could you tell me if your filing status is Head of household?

Do you have any other source of income such as interest, dividends or stock sales?

Do you plan to itemize your deductions, or use the standard deduction allowed by the IRS?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

Yes I'm a single mother, and don't have anything else.

I guess, use the IRSallows.

If you are filing as Head of household, you would be allowed a standard deduction of $8,000 and you would also be allowed a personal allowance of $3,500 each, for you and your son. That gives you total deductions of $15,000, leaving you with a taxable income of $165,000.

Your federal tax on that amount would be $37,883. Since you live in Florida, there is no state tax due.

Thank you.
