What does tax blocked mean Is that a mistake

Customer Question

What does "tax blocked" mean? Is that a mistake by my employer? Looks like they took about half of last year and I just noticed that term next to my exemptions which are the same as last year. Thanks

Dear XXXXX,

This could be a mistake by the employer. Tax Blocked normally means a person has filed exempt on the W-4.

It can also be that you were over withheld and so the employer had payroll block the tax withholding to compensate.

You need to contact the payroll department and find out why they stopped withholding on you.
