In Florida food is tax exempt. There may however be "take-out tax", which they have on fast-food, restaurants, ready prepared food. This is common in most states. If the can of soup is purchased in a grocery store, it should be 2.29. Some states have tax on all food, and some states only have local sales tax (not state sales tax) on food.
