2008 Subaru Tribeca Rear Diff warning light came on this

2008 Subaru Tribeca Rear Diff warning light came on this morning after less than 10 minutes driving. Light came on immediately when started car up after sitting for four hours and remained on until put the car in reverse and it then went off.
We are planning on a drive of 75 miles this evening to get a plane and cannot change plans. Help!

Hi,no worries,what we find 99% of the time is a poor ground causing this light to appear,the ground is attached to the rear differential cover and becomes very rusted causing a poor connection,if the rear differential was overheating the light would not be on at start up,thanks for your time I'll await your reply
