Will not start, battery was taken out and brought to a

Customer Question

Will not start, battery was taken out and brought to a garage and is fine but still will not start. Lights work.
JA: Does the engine turn over? How old is the battery? What is the model/year of your Subaru?
Customer: 2012 or 2010 Outback
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I planned on bringing it to a mechanic but my sister has a older version and at times her security system will not let her start the car. She asked me if I had tried so I was looking to see if that could be the problem.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: No it has been running fine.

This isn't the security system,

Usually rapid clicking is the battery OR the connection from the battery to the starter. Sometimes it can also be the starter itself if it's broken inside. What you are hearing is the starter solenoid making contact without turning the stater.

I would check the cables and connections at the starter, then since the battery tested good replace the starter. Again, this isn't the security doing this to you, it's a mechanical issue.
