When I'm in drive/reverse but not accelerating, my 2011

Customer Question

Hi, when I'm in drive/reverse but not accelerating, my 2011 Subaru tends to idle at 500 rpm or less. I feel a bit of the engine sputtering. Is this normal? My local dealer said they could find nothing wrong.
JA: Fortunately, the mechanics here speak car like it's their native tongue. They're great at sussing out engine issues, and it would be my pleasure to put you in touch with the best one for the job. Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Yes, if it's not too complicated
JA: Great! What have you tried so far?
Customer: i used detergent additives and took it to Subaru dealer. The dealer installed some software patch but no change.
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Subaru Mechanic should know about your Subaru?
Customer: no
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Subaru Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.
