My '12 Subaru Forester has an intermittent rough idle/engine

Customer Question

My '12 Subaru Forester has an intermittent rough idle/engine misfire with warmed up engine as well as a stumble on acceleration, especially going uphill/ feels like it may be starving for fuel or have a restriction in fuel delivery somewhere/ no check engine light comes on/ car only has 15k. miles on it/ I bought car about a month ago/ previous owner drove car so little, I found a birdnest underneath intake manifold ! Any ideas what could be wrong with this car ? I appreciate your input !

Hi there,

It might be an issue with the mass air flow sensor. I would check and make sure the air filter is in good condition and that the air filter box hasn't been filled up with food or something from rodents. If it's sits or has sat this can happen. I once found 5lbs of dog food in an air cleaner box because of chipmunks.

Take a look and let me know.
