Subaru Forester: The air control selector on 2009 subaru forester

The air control selector on 2009 subaru forester wont change from defrost to floor vent etc. when you move the selector the cable doesnt move..how can i remove the dash?

Hi ,when you peak under the dash which side are you looking at to determine the selector cable isn't moving,thanks for your patience.

The drivers side...i can reach in there and manually move it to the desired setting..but the control knob does nothing...it doesnt move the cable...the cable cover is yellow...on the passenger side the temperature setting cable moves fine

Hi,to remove the mode panel is a pretty big job,maybe you can see first what is causing the problem by removing the radio and vent first,to remove the radio pry the panel that surrounds it off ,I use a plastic trim panel knife so no damage occurs.The radio is held in with 4 screws,the vent with 2 ,once removed you can get a good look at the mode control

You mean the small black trim that is around the radio and vents....not the silver trim that surrounds that?

Yes the silver plastic trim,the vents come out with it
