my lifters r tapping so i put in oil and the tapping goes away

my lifters r tapping so i put in oil and the tapping goes away but the oil stick shows nothing on the stick

Well the engine only holds 4.25 quarts of engine oil.
It usually won't come to the fill line on the dipstick, but it will be on the dipstick.
As long as you put it in up front, it should be fine. The boxer engine leaves oil in the heads that doesn't drain down into the crank. This is why it won't usually come up to the full mark on the dipstick.
Also, new oil is very clean, so you might want to look closely.
