My 2004 Subaru Outback Wagon has a new rebuilt engine. I have owned this used car only for 3 months but the problem occurred once before the rebuilt engine was installed and again this past Monday. What happens when I slowly approach a stop sign...as I apply the brake the car revs up and wants to surge forward. I have to press on the brake with all my force and even go into neutral to turn the car then off. But when it is re-started it does not reoccur....thus the mechanic shop where the rebuilt engine was installed does not find a problem.Have you any idea of what this is? I am afraid to drive it without a repair.

Hello, do you know if there are any stored codes in the computer?
There is a Subaru bulletin regarding idle issues that relate to the TPS but it usually will have a code related to the TPS as well.
