Car draining batteries! Car won't start if sits for more than 2 or three days on a NEW napa battery...this is my second new Napa battery which was replaced under warranty-now the new ones going dead (is dead now). New in Oct 2011 (and the original stock battery)...
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows XP Browser: Firefox Already Tried: replace original battery about 2.5 years ago with the red napa battery. in less than an year, had to get anohter battery (under warranty) as that battery went dead after my two week vacation, and I recharged it. Alwasy kept dying if no driving for couple days. Now new battery, after about 1 month when I took car into oil change was told battery needed charging....and guess so, as it's now bone dead.
Hello! You are going to have to pinpoint what is drawing the battery down. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Put a test light between the negative cable and the negative battery terminal. With the key out of the ignition switch and the vehicle just sitting there (make sure the doors are closed) the test light should not light up bright. If it does, there is a draw! Disconnect one fuse at a time until the test light goes out. When it does, you have found the circuit that the draw is on! Here is a hint, a lot of times it is either the dome light or the glove compartment light that stays on. If you do not want to go through the hassle of the test, pull the bulbs out and see if that helps.
Hello...did you get my reply? And I ckecked, not light in glove, not mirror lights. My impreza does have the time clock, temperature guage, trunk light, auto lights on when driving
Hello!I only see one reply.Did you run the test I have provided you with?
you missed my first reply. But....I have to go very soon, Can I resume this discussion later, with you? I don't have the tools or knowledge to run the test. I leave my interior light in the off position, I don't have a glove box light, the only lights that go on are when I open the hatch-- (I think). Also, I took car in within a year of purchasing it used, to the dealer before the 3 yr warranty was up and I had battery problem then, they check, and gave a green light. Less than year later I bought the 1st red napa battery, and replaced that as it started going dead. The when I went to put in that new battery (red fr Napa) the other battery had leaked (was never suppose to freeze) so it apparently got low enough that in Alaska weather and plug ins and garage, it must have gotton weak enough to freeze. Now the new battery, less than 3 months after put in and I left for 3 weeks, disengaged the battery, it was almost dead when I got back. Now as of about May 3 (last time drove) it is dead dead. I just now, finally, got it staarted with my battery charger, but my charger never showed green light or fully charged. Can I come back later?
You bet!Please don't forget about me.Amedee
What do I do to come back later? I don't want to pay again, it's just I got to assist someone else with an emergency.
I did not get paid because you have not indicated that you are happy with my answer. You will not get charged twice if you indicate that you are happy now and come back again down the road and need further assistance. I will continue to assist you at no further charge at that point.I hope this helps!Amedee
I can come back in couple hours and see what you have to say with my reply(s), but I think my cpu will go to sleep even if I leave the window here and all that. Maybe not, that is what I will try. I want more your thoughts in light of the issue was supposidly address by the dealer.
