Subaru Legacy: I just took all transmission fluid from subaru

Customer Question

I just took all transmission fluid from subaru 1999 legacy; can not seem to put in the new fluid. The hole where it goes shows to overflow with about two quarts, am I using the right fluid? Castrol, Transmax (for imorted vehicles)

Ok, here is probably what is happening.
The dipstick for the transmission is on the driver side.
the dipstick for the front differential is on the passenger side.
If you are filling the passenger side, you are putting the transmission fluid into the front differential. You need to drain that and refill it with 75-90K gear oil.
then, find the dipstick on the driver side and refill the transmission with ATF. The dipstick is sort of hidden back near the firewall.
