how to reset car alarm after changing battery in 99 subaru legacy sus

Carguy1 :

Hi there! Do you have the remote for the door locks?

Customer:

i did but lost it awhile ago now i just have the regular door key

Carguy1 :

Ok, is the horn blaring and all that or just lights flashing like the dash and radio and parking lights?

Customer:

honestly i think its just that very loud alarm horn its not in front of me this second

Customer:

its my sons car and the car died on him its sitting down the road from where we live.

Ok, what to do is after you get in the car, cycle the ignition key from off to on 3 times without starting the engine and the alarm will stop going off.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
iv have already tired that it doesnt seem to reset
Then this isn't a factory alarm.
Check under the dash for a small black box that is being held in with tie straps. If it is there, unplug it.
The factory alarm will reset with the procedure i gave you.
One other thing to try is this. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Turn the key to the run position, then reconnect the cable with the key in the run position. This will reset the Subaru system.
Let me know.
