if you are using the heat or defrost it will cause the compressor to enage and condensation inside can happen.
could it be a water pump problem
Most cars now aare designed to use the a/c to add moisture to the air inside
what color is the leak, if clear it is water
did you check the drain to see if it is clear
But I had the car turned off for 3 hours. Came out and noted that a pool of water was on the ground. This has not happened before. I have not used the air conditioner
it will be under the evaporator and it drains through the firewall
not a huge pool, but notice that water continued
did you check the coolant level?
Is this something IO should worry about--like a water pump problem?
if the drain is partially clogged it could take time to drain
no, didn't check coolant. doesn't feel like coolant. has no color
mildew can develop if the water does not drain properly
good observation, coolant is slippery
you don't think its the water pump?
It drips very slowly--tiny drops of water--left a minor stream when I backed out
not with clear fluid leaking
if the water pump were leaking it would not enter the inside of the car
So you think I don't have to worry right now?
that car is ok to drive until I get it checked out?
the HVAC housing can hold alot of water, I have heard of cars with a sloshing noise form all the water
so its ok to drive
I think it is not dangerous, if you make sure the coolant and oil are full you should be fine
But water is NOT leaking inside the car
I think so.
It is a minor drip drip by the right passenger wheel
Dis you get the timing belt done yet
water by the front right is where the a/c would drain
15,000 miles ago--its at 103000 now
ok--but have not used the ac recently
when the a/c works good and it is warm most cars will leak a good amount
very important on these
but its cool here in virginia mountains
heat, defrost and a/c will all cause the water
I hear you. What would be a sign that the waterpump is not working?
I have an older car and it really makes water from the a/c
or going out
even if AC is not on?
noise, and leaking
most people get the pump changed with the timing belt
Is water pump a very big job?
Would water leak at same point as AC water drip spot?
if the ccompressor comes on it will make water. If you know what the compressor/clutch looks like when you have the heat or defrost on open the hood and watch to see.
the water pump is easy or not much more when the timing belt is done
you have to remove the timing belt to do it.
But if timing belt is done, is water pump a big job when done separately?
I like to recommend it when doing the belt to save the customer labor
What is normal cost?
slightly more time than the belt.
OK, I was just upset because I have never had water leak like this at a time when Im not using the AC
3 hrs labor
Should I have it checked out at the Subaru dealer?
Is my question to you unusual?
You don't have to go to the dealer but if they did the belt I would
Just never happened before
for big issues or if the dealer did work I would go there.
ok thank you--will sign off
they do have the tools and company bulletins but they usually charge more
you are welcome
thank you and bye
