Hello. There is no specific "life expectancy" of the chain. I can tell you from what I've seen it would be shocking if it fails. It's a pretty simple unit and don't forsee any issues. I won't say that there may never be a problem as long as it's maintained it should last. If the chain breaks than your gonna need a tow truck. Laughing
