I want to know if I can use an 8x18 to support a load

I want to know if I can use an 8x18 to support a load bearing floor if the span is 24'.

Customer: I have a basement that is 18'x24'. I need to span the floor at the mid point of the 18' leg. I was planning on cyp 2x12's 16" OC.- 9' span breaking on the steel beam below
JA: Is there anything else the Structural Engineer should be aware of?
Customer: Nothing uncommon. a simple floor system in my residential structure

Is it supporting a single floor with no attic?

It is not a load bearing floor. The limitations are headroom below ( 8" would be great) and stairs going down one side that require the span to go the 24' direction.

Even without tile a W8x18 is not close to working. You will need a heavier beam
