Customer Question

We have a building site, 22% slope, solid sandstone, no geologlical issues. We plan to build a two story 2000 sq ft. house on piers. Before we launch this project I need to know if a $150,000 budget for the foundation is reasonable.
JA: OK. Is there anything else the structural engineer should be aware of?
Customer: Let's see, no water, no soil issues. Neighbors have built near by.

I'll be happy to assist you.

This depends on a lot of things. Will it include excavation? will you need to excavate at all? What kind of foundations are you planning for?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Planning on piers, minimal excavation.

Then $150k is more than reasonable for foundations.
