Customer Question

I have 2 pony walls separated by a 4' opening that leads from entry way to living room. Both walls run parallel to ceiling joists, rafters. On each side of opening is a decorative column that runs from top of pony wall to ceiling (app. 4.5'). I want to remove the decorative columns but want to make sure that there is no load supported by the columns.
JA: OK. Is there anything else important you think the Structural Engineer should know?
Customer: I don't think so ?.

Please keep the inflammatory rhetoric down. It was almost midnight last night and I fell asleep.

Actually, I'm opting out for you. If you want an answer immediately, then the urgency should be set to high and reflected in the value of the question. Good luck with your project.
