Customer Question

Im looking at removing a load bearing wall in my house.
JA: OK. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so we can help you best.
Customer: It will be a 14 foot opening. Its on the main level and there is a bedroom above it.
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Structural Engineer should know?
Customer: The joists run perpendicular 14 feet on one side and 12 feet on the other. What size beam do I need? I work in a structural welding shop so it could be a wide flange beam.
