Customer Question

Can I use 8" C purlin at 24" OC with a span of 15 ft.
JA: OK. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so we can help you best.
Customer: This is floor joists for a second floor in a small metal frame house.
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Structural Engineer should know?
Customer: This area is 15'x 30'. Mostly for a storage area. It will be supported by 4x4 tubing in the walls.
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Structural Engineer about your situation and then connect you two.

I'm sure we can get a 8" metal joist to work. It will just be a heavy gauge with a wide flange.

Can I get back to you this evening on the size? I'm away from my computer right now.
